Britain’s Richard Kruse claimed his first Grand Prix gold medal since 2009 with a 15-5 victory over Alaaeldin Abouelkassem of Egypt in the men’s competition. On his way to gold, the 32-year-old Briton battled past world No.1 Alex Massialas 15-14, but had less trouble defeating Abouelkassem in the gold medal match. Abouelkassem, for his part, won his first major medal since silver at the London Olympic Games in 2012. Arianna Errigo underlined her status as a gold medal favourite for the Rio Olympics by winning the women’s event. She stormed to victory with a 15-10 win over Lee Kiefer of the United States after dispatching Hyunhee Nam (KOR) 15-4 in a one-sided semi-final
