The Olympic Oath is added to the programme of the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games. It is first given by Victor Boin, a member of the Belgian fencing team. Also in 1920, The Mark of Zorro debuts with Douglas Fairbanks, giving the world its first fencing hero in the movies.

A medal event for women’s foil is added to the Olympic Games, making fencing one of the first sports to regularly feature a women’s Olympic medal event.
